Wednesdays from 7 - 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted. March 3rd - Welcome to the Digital Age. - taught by Jason Mendenhall March 10th - (7pm - 8:30pm) Basic Windows - taught by Al Norvick March 17th - Documenting genealogical research - taught by Al Norvick March 24th - Learn How to Use the Family History Center Scanner - taught by Denny Manning March 31st - Picasco - taught by Jason Mendenhall Classes Overviews Welcome to the Digital Age What does digital mean? What can be done digitally? How does this save time? What do we use? Basic Windows (This is a prequisite for the other computer classes or permission of instructor) Did you know that there are really only 30 commands you need to know for every program you use? DOS still lives, but it's hidden.....Come to this class and find out how to learn them. This class is to lay the foundation of ALL programs using Windows such as: Word, Excel, PAF, Legacy, RootsMagic, Explorer, etc, etc. It will help you find those pictures, sound bytes, etc that you keep losing. Learn how to learn ANY program by yourself. Unlock the secrets that Bill Gates doesn't want you to learn. (Vista will NOT be taught, but the basics will, because it's going away, per Microsoft, but all other versions will be discussed.) Documenting genealogical research This class is going to show you how to store and share ALL your documents for genealogy in safe places. This class will show you unique ways to make your family tree personal and fun. How to set up your files for easier access. Learn How to Use the Family History Center scanner There are scanners at the center available for patron use. Learn how to scan photos and documents, print, or save to CD or thumbdrive to take home and put in your computer. Picasco A free software program you can download to use in photo restoration. A very basic program but does a lot. It will be demonstrated to help you see how to use it. |
